San Diego BMW Motorcycles Hosts Scenic Palomar Mountain Ride on Sept. 19

The ride climbs through Santa Ysabel and East Grade Road to the Palomar Mountain General Store, then returns down East Grade to Highway 79. All riders welcome.

Palomar is one of those mountains every local rider knows, and this routing lets the group enjoy it without spending the afternoon on the interstate.”

SAN DIEGO, CA, UNITED STATES, September 16, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — San Diego BMW Motorcycles continues its popular 2026 Group Rides series with a picturesque loop to Palomar Mountain on Saturday, Sept. 19.

Riders will meet at 8:45 a.m. at the dealership, 5673 Kearny Villa Road, San Diego, Calif., 92123, for coffee and donuts. A safety briefing will follow, with departure scheduled for 9 a.m. The group will head east on state Route 52, then north on state Route 67 through Lakeside and Ramona before following Highway 78 into Santa Ysabel. From there the ride continues north on Highway 79, passing Lake Henshaw, and climbs East Grade Road to a regroup at the Palomar Mountain General Store.

After time at the summit — with an optional short look toward Palomar Observatory — riders will descend East Grade Road the way they came, reconnect with Highway 79 and follow 79 south toward Interstate 8. The return stays on Interstate 8 west before a short hop from Interstate 15 onto state Route 163 north, bringing the group back to Kearny Mesa without a long freeway run on Interstate 15.

This ride celebrates the alpine appeal of BMW motorcycles while remaining fully inclusive. Riders of every brand — Harley, Honda, Ducati or any two-wheeled machine — are warmly invited to join. Spouses, partners and newcomers to group riding are especially encouraged to participate and experience the camaraderie that defines the dealership.

“Palomar is one of those mountains every local rider knows, and this routing lets the group enjoy it without spending the afternoon on the interstate,” said Tracy Donohue, general manager. “You get Santa Ysabel, the climb to the store, and then East Grade and Highway 79 all the way down to the 8. Come share the road with us.”

The about 165-mile loop offers valley highways, a forested climb to more than 5,000 feet and a back-road return through the same country that makes a San Diego Saturday worth leaving the city for.

Highlights from the ride will be shared on the dealership’s Instagram, YouTube and Facebook channels. For ride details or to RSVP, call 858-560-2453 or email marketing@sdbmwmc.com.
