Focal Point, the AI procurement platform for enterprises, today announced the appointment of Michaela Dempsey as Chief Marketing Officer. Dempsey will lead the company’s global marketing organization, including brand, product marketing, demand generation, communications, customer advocacy, and go-to-market strategy.
Dempsey joins Focal Point as enterprises increasingly move beyond AI experimentation and look for practical ways to apply AI across procurement to improve productivity, accelerate decision-making and deliver measurable business outcomes. Focal Point connects procurement’s people, processes, data and existing technology in an intelligent platform that automates tactical work while giving teams the visibility and context to focus on higher-value strategic priorities.
Customers including Baker Tilly, Candescent, Messer, and Orrick use Focal Point across procurement processes including intake, sourcing, supplier management, third-party risk and contracts. Focal Point customers have delivered more than $1.7 billion in savings and reduced manual procurement work by up to 70 percent.
“I spent more than 20 years leading procurement organizations, and I know firsthand how often procurement technology falls short of its promise,” said Anders Lillevik, Founder and CEO of Focal Point. “Michaela understands this market from every angle. She combines deep procurement technology expertise with a track record of building category-defining brands and growth engines, and she has helped lead two procurement technology companies through successful acquisitions by Workday. As enterprises move from experimenting with AI to demanding measurable results from it, Michaela is exactly the leader we want helping Focal Point define and lead that next chapter.”
Dempsey brings more than 20 years of experience building brands and growth engines for high-growth enterprise technology companies, with much of her career focused on procurement, spend management and AI.
Most recently, she served as Chief Marketing Officer at Levelpath. Previously, Dempsey was Chief Marketing Officer at Evisort, the AI contract intelligence company acquired by Workday in 2024, where she led a global rebrand and helped drive significant customer growth. Earlier, as Vice President of Global Marketing at Scout RFP, she led marketing from the company’s Series A through its 2019 acquisition by Workday and subsequently led marketing for Workday’s spend management portfolio. Dempsey has also held senior marketing leadership roles at BILL and Anaplan.
“Procurement doesn’t need another disconnected AI tool. It needs a way to connect work across the systems and teams companies already have, apply AI where it can move work forward safely, and give people better context for the decisions that matter. That’s the opportunity I see at Focal Point,” said Michaela Dempsey, CMO at Focal Point. “CPOs are being asked to move faster, manage more complexity and risk, and create greater enterprise value, without simply adding more people or more technology. What attracted me to Focal Point is how practical the vision is: connect the systems and information companies already have, apply AI to the work that shouldn’t require human intervention, and give procurement professionals more time and intelligence to focus on the decisions that do.”
“Focal Point has already earned the trust of sophisticated enterprise procurement organizations,” Dempsey continued. “There is an enormous opportunity to bring those customer stories and outcomes to the market and establish Focal Point as the company defining what AI-powered procurement looks like in practice.”
Moving Beyond AI Experimentation at SIG
Dempsey will join Focal Point customers and procurement leaders at the 2026 Fall SIG Global Executive Summit, taking place October 25–28 at Navy Pier in Chicago. During the Summit, Dempsey will join Stephan Hutter, Head of Vendor Management and Procurement and Lead Contract Counsel at Orrick, for a customer session, “Beyond AI Experimentation: How Orrick Is Creating Enterprise Impact with an AI Procurement Platform.”
The session will explore how Orrick is applying procurement orchestration to move beyond manual processes and disconnected workflows toward a more intelligent and responsive procurement operating model. Hutter will discuss how organizations can turn procurement strategy into practical business value, strengthen procurement’s partnerships with stakeholders, and increase its contribution to enterprise outcomes.
“AI shouldn’t become another disconnected tool procurement teams have to manage,” Dempsey said. “Its value is in making work easier, decisions better and procurement more connected to the outcomes that matter to the business. That’s the conversation we are excited to have with procurement leaders at SIG.”
